Souvenirs is the debut project from Belgian musician Halibab Matador. The album is an instrumental journey that blends elements of jazz, soul, hip-hop and electronic music.
I tried to make an authentic project with music that comes from the heart and without any particular intention. Just music and love. Halibab Matador is also a founding member of the successful indie-RnB band YellowStraps. The (then) duo released their “Blame” EP in 2018 on Majestic Casual, performed on the COLORS platform in 2019 before releasing the Goldress EP in 2020.
Alban Murenzi is a guitarist and producer born in Rwanda and based in Belgium. He began playing guitar at the age of 14, with strong rock and folk influences, learning covers of artists such as Phoenix, Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay. The discovery of King Krule at the age of 17 completely influenced his style, opening young Alban up to a wide range of musical styles. With his brother Yvan, Alban founded YellowStraps in 2011. In 2020, Alban withdrew from the project as he no longer had the ambition to make music his profession.
I’ve always preferred to create in my own corner and the balance I have today as a producer/composer suits me perfectly.
