We had the honor of talking to the very talented producer Prof.Logik during the weekend, a massive influence and a guy we look up to at the movement. With a catalog of three EP’s, one full length album and a massive amount of beats in his library. Right now, he’s aiming to see the world and start touring worldwide – sharing his music in different cities and inspire people. The fourth EP is on it’s way, and the exclusive we’re sharing is included in the full release.
If you haven’t had the time to check his music out, we highly recommend to explore his Soundcloud & Bandcamp and see what sound he aims for, it’s really a unbelievable experience. A very talented composer & producer that will go very far.
Take your time and read about his thoughts down below.
How do you feel about the beatscene in South Carolina right now?
Well the beat scene here in South Carolina is not really growing as an scene there is just a few like minded producers in the area. But it kind of ceases there.
When did you start making beats?
I started Djing at the age of 9 then I got my hands on a sampler at the age of 12 and from there i’ve never left the production gear alone.
What is your first memory of discovering Hip-Hop?
Wow this is tough one being from Jamaica Queens N.Y but my fist memory would have to be seeing Grandmaster Caz with his deck set-up on the playground basketball court allowing rappers in attendance to show off there lyrical abilities.
How does your current production setup look like?
Well a lot of machines so i just provided some pictures to make it easier but the main part of my setup is my SP-404SX and Ableton Live 9 Suite
What album has been a major part of your influence in production?
Definitely David Axelrod’s Songs of innocence, the composition the tonal quality is superb indeed.
Thank you for taking the time and answering our questions. Is there anything more you would like to add for all the producers & readers out there?
Sure thing never give up on what makes you happy and its music for me and also support your fellow artist it pays off in so many ways, and of course lookout for a lot new material for Prof.Logik.
Peace and blessings
